WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY JAN 28

"Jesus answered, 'Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.'"

Together, we celebrate the ceremony of baptism, a powerful point in time for people. In our tradition, this is shared at the beginning of life for children of the church. For others, it comes later in life, when faith is professed and pronounced as an adolescent, or adult. For all of us baptized, though, it is a strong mark of identity in Christ that we share and nurture in his gathered community. This Sunday, we celebrate the water of baptism in Christ with two families. We also learn from an exchange between Jesus and Peter, and meditate on the meaning of this gift of spiritual washing and watering.

Why was it difficult for Peter to receive what Jesus offered?
Is it also difficult for us?
