THIS SUNDAY - EMMAUS ROAD IN BELLEVUE, SHORELINE

Instead of meeting at our regular time and place in Belltown at the Seattle School, Emmaus Road is invited to explore two options to build local connections with congregations and area ministries:

    SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT 7-8:30PM
    Benefit Concert for Aurora Commons
Bellevue CRC - 1221 148th Avenue NE, Bellevue, WA
Bring canned goods, enjoy a variety of music, meet people from your sister congregations and ministries, and support the work of Aurora Commons. Our very own Sax'a'Bone Cirkus  (Pastor Eric Likkel and Dan Ruiter) from Emmaus Road will join a roster of diverse musicians Saturday night to raise awareness and support for the ongoing ministry of Aurora Commons.  Launched by Awake CR Church  this ministry along Aurora Avenue has been serving and reaching a vulnerable population along one of the most spiritually oppressive corridors of our city. Seattle Dream Church, led by Pastor Bomsu Kim, are the event organizers, with Bellevue CR Church offering their facility as hosts.

SUNDAY WORSHIP WITH 1st SEATTLE CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH 10-11AM
Pastor Eric Likkel preaches on second Sundays to one of our sister congregations in Shoreline. This is another opportunity to worship and become acquainted with local partner churches.

SUNDAY CREW DAY & DECALOGUE FOUR

Emmaus Road, it's that time of year: people change routines, scatter, hopefully rest, recreate, etc.  But for us as a church, we also conclude one six month shift of Sunday volunteer roles and begin another.  Fittingly, tomorrow we celebrate SUNDAY CREW DAY, as we appreciate one another's service, AND we listen to the FOURTH COMMANDMENT, receiving the Lord's Sabbath instruction. Service and Sabbath are not enemies, they are friends. There are times to be fruitful, and there are times to prune; both are good. That is what tomorrow's theme will be about.

    LIKKEL’S LECTIONS
    Gospel: John 15:1-10
    Old Testament: Exodus 20:1-2,8
    Psalter: Psalm 1
    Epistle: Romans 15:13

WHERE DO I PARK ON SUNDAYS?

Emmaus Road currently worships on Sundays at 10:30AM Seattle Schoolcorner of Elliott/Wall in Belltown. Street parking is free on Sundays. Elliott is one way south, Western (one block up the hill) is one way north. Side streets of Wall, Vine, Cedar, etc., are all fair game. If street parking is hard to find, there is a very convenient small gravel pay lot across the street from the entrance to the school which is only $3 FOR THE ENTIRE DAY on Sundays!!

    THEOLOGY PUB THURSDAY

Join us next TOMORROWThursday, February 26th, 7:30pm @ Blue Star Cafe & Pub in Wallingford. Our time will include a presentation and discussion on the COUNTER-CULTURAL CALL OF CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY and it's COUNTERFEITS. What are the theological underpinnings of healthy spiritual community in Christ? What are the substitutes we often settle for?

Chris Fulkerson will lead our conversation. Chris is a CRC (Christian Reformed Church) pastor who has been doing ministry for about 20 years.   He is serving at Harbor Church in Seattle.  One of his first ministry roles was helping coordinate small groups for a college ministry.  Since that time he's made it a focus to explore and discover what builds Christian community in a variety of contexts.  Chris has an MDiv from Fuller, and a Bachelor's in Biblical Studies.  He lives with his lovely wife Christina and his dog Gabby.   He does life with them as well as his church family and a number of close friends.

FYIpub theology as a national trend/movement has been noticed; check out a recent PBS special.
